About the Program |
Witness two virtuosic premieres with live music!
The multi-cultural Buglisi Dance Theatre is hailed for its magnificent
dancers and visually stunning theatricality, inspired by art
literature and heroic archetypes. A powerful
observer of humanity, Buglisi captivates us in
Program A with the romance and comedic absurdities of life in
the provocative trilogy "Women Who Dare” comprised
of the world premiere Wild Mannequins & Wing
Walkers with a cutting edge set by Jack Mehler
in collaboration with visionary mannequin maker Ralph
Pucci, original score to keyboard, laptop and voice
by composers Wynne Bennett and Milica
Paranosic, and costumes designs by A.Christina
Giannini; the surreal Frida; and Suspended
Women, Buglisi's signature masterpiece with musical
interpolations by Daniel Bernard Roumain (DBR); also on the program
is the NYC Premiere of Interplay No. 9-1 to Bach, Chopin
and Scriabin performed live on piano. Program B highlights
the erotically-charged Threshold to the music of Arvo
Pärt.
