Touring in 2003

Contemporary hunter/gatherers – our journeys unfold

The Company is planning performances in Denmark and a Northwest Tour in Spring. In the Summer, B/FD has been invited to perform for the 71st Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival in the Ted Shawn Theater, followed in July by four performances at Santa Fe Stages Festival in New Mexico.

Keepers of the Spirit, our annual new works program, will include a dance by Buglisi, to be the foundation for a cultural exchange project with China, in association with the Committee of 100. The upcoming New York Season will include Doudou Huang, internationally acclaimed dancer and Artistic Director of the Shanghai Song and Dance Ensemble, in a performance of Jacqulyn’s new work recently created for him during a three-week creative period in Shanghai, China.

The dance is created to the music of Academy-Award winning composer Tan Dun, with set design by recent MacArthur Fellow recipient Xu Bing. This incredible trans-cultural collaboration, facilitated by the Committee of 100 (an organization that encourages and promotes cultural exchanges between China and the U.S.), reinforces the Company’s artistic mission of building cultural bridges between peoples of the world by recognizing, through dance, our common legacies.
